This week I have been doing a lot of thinking about types of differentiation used in the classroom. When I reflect back on my middle school art experiences I don't recall ever witnessing any type of differentiation happening. I wonder if this was because the teacher did it so well that it seemed normal or if it was because the teacher didn't do it at all. In my own teaching this past week I utilized learning stations in order to differentiate the content. The use of learning stations is something I hadn't used before and it turned out to be one of the best tools for my first grade class. I am planning to try differentiating the process and product next class.
For the artwork above I created it to remind me to follow my intuition when it comes to knowing when to differentiate. The multiple patterns and colors represent the different ways the teacher can deliver information to students through differentiation!
