I've gotten so swept up in homework and planning lessons and work that i've been neglecting my own need to create art and express myself. This week I found a large piece of MDF board that had been gessoed and I saw my chance to do some creating and push myself out of my comfort zone. It felt exciting and refreshing to throw myself back into my artwork and to practice some oil painting which is not my strong suit. As my painting has begun to come together so has my understanding that being a teacher is much more than simply encourage students to create, it also entails continuing to create yourself. I am excited to see where this project will take me.
