Educ 450: Instruction II Standards and Assessments

During this spring semester, I was enrolled in Concepts in instruction II standards and assessments (Educ 450). In the beginning of the semester we worked on revising our resume's and creating an introductory letter for our mentor teachers. We also completed an avid training course in order to volunteer as a tutor throughout the semester. I learned a lot about visible thinking strategies and how to create an effective classroom management plan. After completing this semester I changed some aspects of my teaching philosophy. Now my philosophy is  is that everyone is an artist. I believe in the idea that everything students create is art, there is no right or wrong way to create art. Art is a way of self expression as well as self healing, which are two important necessities to live a happy life. I also believe that all students deserve a moment in the spotlight, which means in my classroom I intend to create multiple opportunities for my students to be the center of attention and present their artwork and ideas to their classmates. Another belief I hold dear to my heart, is the idea that students should create art that is personal and artwork they are passionate about. In my classroom I will have my students tell their own unique stories through art and help them learn to use art to channel their thoughts and ideas.
